Four questions people ask before an implant. The answers are the practice’s own words.
Will it hurt?
“We use anesthesia to make sure you do not feel pain during the surgery. Most patients find the recovery is much easier than they expected.”
From DoctorPerio’s own answer to “Is the procedure painful?”
What if I am too nervous to sit in the chair?
Sedation is offered at three levels: minimal, moderate and deep. Dr. Lee and Dr. Jhawar both trained in intravenous sedation.
“Our caring team takes everything at your pace and adjusts each treatment to meet your comfort level.”

What will it cost, and will my insurance help?
A treatment coordinator walks you through your treatment and financing plan before anything is booked. The practice is in network with Delta Dental of Washington, Premera and Regence, bills dental insurance for you, and takes cash, card, check and CareCredit.
They do not take Apple Health (Medicaid), Medicare or other state plans. Prices are discussed at the consult, not online.
How long does all of this take?
The first visit runs 70 to 80 minutes, including 30 to 40 minutes with a doctor. After placement, the jawbone heals and bonds with the implant over a few months before your new teeth go in.

The people who will be in the room.
Three periodontists, each with specialist training in implants after dental school. Here is a little of who they are outside it.
Dr. Neal Raval BDS, MSD
“My job is my hobby.”
Born in Germany, trained in Oxford and Birmingham, then a residency in periodontics and implants at the University of Washington. His hero is his dad, a dentist. He lectures nationally and internationally on implant dentistry.
Dr. Eddie Lee
Born in Seoul. Researched cancer drug therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago before choosing dentistry. Weekends are hiking, cycling and the Seahawks.
Dr. Malika Jhawar DMD
A Bellevue native. Doctorate with honors from Penn, periodontics and IV sedation at Tufts. Japan is next on her travel list.
Your path, from the first hello to new teeth.
Five steps, as the practice describes them. You can stop after the first one and simply go home with answers.
1
The first visit
70 to 80 minutes. An assistant reviews your health history and takes clinical photos, then 30 to 40 minutes with one of the doctors, who checks your gums and answers your questions.
2
A plan you can see
Using diagrams and images, the doctor explains the recommended plan. A treatment coordinator then goes through the treatment and financing with you. Nothing is booked until you consent.
3
Placement
Planned on a CBCT 3D scan and placed with the X-Navigation guidance system, under local anesthesia, with sedation if you want it.
4
Healing
Your jawbone heals and bonds with the implant over a few months.
5
Your new teeth
Custom teeth are placed. The practice calls it the graduation of your new smile.
Insurance and payment
In network with Delta Dental of Washington, Premera and Regence. The office bills dental insurance for you and helps with claims and paperwork.
Cash, credit card, check and CareCredit are accepted.
Not accepted: Apple Health (Medicaid), Medicare, ProviderOne, DSHS, Molina or other state insurance.
